Sterling silver
At the little things we only use 100% sterling silver.
Sterling silver is the quality standard for silver around the world. It is an alloy made up of 92.5% silver, and 7.5% copper, added to increase the hardness and durability of the alloy and creating its color and luster.
We choose to make our products in recycled 925 silver (100% pure vs plated or filled) to ensure the quality, avoid allergies, minimize tarnish and make them 100% recyclable (you can always decide to melt it into a new piece).
Care
Sterling silver can tarnish, when exposed to atmospheric pollution, salt water and sulfur products.
The more silver is used the less care it requires, so above all: WEAR your silver jewelry as much as possible.
Avoid air exposure when storing your jewels. Keep them in their little bag, it will also allow you to avoid scratching when transporting them around.
Avoid contact with chemical products and wearing your jewelry in swimming pools, chlorine can accelerate tarnishing.
Use special microfiber cloth to clean it with long strokes along the piece.
Yellow and Rose Brass
Brass has been an important metal throughout history. Known for its yellowish warm tones that can gleam as good as gold.
Red brass has a reddish hue due to the high concentration of copper in its composition. Typically red brass consists of at least 85 percent copper (vs 60% for yellow brass).
Since brass is usually made of a combination of zinc and copper, it can often tarnish, or oxidize - occasionally leaving your fingers green. The reason this occurs is because the metal oxidizes and reacts with the sweat from your body. Stains can be removed by washing with soap and water.
Care
Avoid wearing your brass jewelry in the water and while sweating.
Store your jewels in a air tight bag and use soft cloth to polish.
Granma tricks like lemon juice, baking soda and water combined with a toothbrush are effective to remove tarnish.
Another trick to avoid the green effect on your fingers you can put clear nailpolish on the part tat touches your finger.
